Preseason Training and Match Program
Taught and Bowled will be running a preseason program during Term 3 leading into the 2024-25 cricket season.
We will be fielding an Under 12 and an Under 14 team. These teams will go through a preseason training program in Term 3, leading into a Twenty20 tournament in the October school holidays.
Program Outline
The Preseason program runs on Wednesday afternoons and includes the following sessions:
- 6 x 60 minute coaching sessions focusing on batting, bowling and wicket keeping skills
- 5 x Twenty20 matches in the October school holidays as part of a carnival at West Beach
All training sessions will be held at the Stepney Cricket Centre. The Twenty20 carnival will be held at the Adelaide University Playing Fields, West Beach.
Structure
Players can select two focus areas:
- Batting and Fast/Medium Bowling
- Batting and Spin Bowling
- Batting and Wicket Keeping
All players are different and will have their own strengths however the areas we will be looking at include the following:
- Batting; batswing, set up, balance, decision making, range of shots
- Pace bowling; alignment, fluency through the crease, seam position, wicket taking weapons
- Spin bowling; grip and wrist position, revolutions on the ball, variety
- Wicket keeping; power position, lateral movement, soft hands, footwork, head position
Age Groups
There are two age groups available:
- Under 12s: 9, 10 and 11 year old cricketers
- Under 14s: 12 and 13 year old cricketers
Ages are as at September 1st 2024

Players will be allocated a 60 minute timeslot between 4:00-7:00pm
Match Dates
The Twenty20 carnival will run from Tuesday October 8 - Thursday October 10
Cost
$460 which covers all training sessions and entry fees for the Twenty20 tournament in the October holidays. It also includes a playing shirt and cap.
